For the final stage in my project I found that my previous techniques (see Week 7 Reflection II) became more stressful as I created ever increasing lists of work to be completed and lost the most key information in the lists. To adapt to this I blocked out the key things that I needed to complete for the deadline and worked through that list systematically. Refinement at this stage is not as important as making sure each piece is at least there and letting my work thus far carry itself to some extent. I prioritised as usual, delegating certain things to the bus journey, home, college. Making sure everything is on a USB stick and printed out to present is key at this stage and is a process that is more time consuming than it has any right to be. After everything so far is here I can hone each piece up to the deadline.
This has been a real challenge for me because in a lot of ways it feels like leaving my work and project unfinished, and I find myself becoming bogged down again and again- however, putting this priority first gives me a clearer idea what to do when feeling anxious.
Unlike a lot of the stages of the creative process, this piece seems unavoidable and just needs to be worked through systematically rather than in a blind panic (easier said than done but I think I have improved at working to deadlines drastically across the course through prioritising and sticking to expectations of my time that allow me to complete everything). For example, instead of expecting myself to create a perfect PowerPoint all at once as well as everything else, I get the PowerPoint done to a satisfactory standard and then move on, to later come back and polish it.
