Video Presentation

We were briefed to create a 2 minute video, detailing our work and process. I initially planned to do a velocity edit of my work, but couldn’t find copyright free music to import and decided that format was less applicable to applications to university (thinking about my target audience). Thus, I chose to do a video montage of some of the digital work I couldn’t present the process for in my book, detailing the different methods I used to make some of the targeted illustrations I made during the course. To keep the video to a reasonable length I only included information not seen elsewhere in my documentation, work that couldn’t be presented in other ways, and work that fit with the progression of my project aim- to create a cast of characters, environments, and lore for an older children’s picture book.

In depth information on the video editing processes used can be found in my previous blog post. The final video is designed to flow cleanly between pieces in a way that shows the natural progression of my course. The final Timelapse is not of a ‘final product’ but instead of one of the style ideas I had for the book, however, I decided it didn’t feel like it fit with the target audience. It is a useful style for ideating however, as putting together that image (which I believe is almost as atmospheric and evocative as a final illustration would be) only took 2 hours after brainstorming thumbnails etc. and could be useful in a more refined form for older readers, posters, and promotion for the book potentially so represents a version of the rendering outcomes I had during the project, and therefore one of a few possible conclusions. Since I couldn’t show it without video form however, I decided it was the most dynamic choice for my presentation.
