I made both photograms and maquettes as part of developing my visual language- taking inspiration from the ghostly lines, sepiated whites and bold values of the photograms, and the flexible proportions and intensely modelled perspectives of the maquettes to influence my work.
To create the photograms we created wire sculptures which we then layer out over the top of photographic film (photo-sensitive side up), and then expose using short bursts of light in the dark room before into reacting, neutralising, and then binding solution for roughly 7 seconds, 5 minutes and 6 minutes respectively for the results on the left, and 12 seconds for the results on the right. I also experimented using a ruler, that although once transparent had areas of semi-opacity and a cool gradient effect on the result. You can see the ghostly lines mimicked in Artstudio using trace contour filter, and then using chromatic aberration and setting the blend mode to lighten or colour dodge and offsetting slightly. This gives the drawing a more traditional media/printing technique feel, and brings visual interest (below)
