Fashion Ideas

I was distracted by other things after the ideating and research phase of my fashion project, so only got chance to finish up a few designs in Week 7. However, I’m glad I waited as they serve as a good benchmark for how my creative process has evolved onto something that implements the best bits of what I have experimented with on the course. Honestly the feeling of satisfaction from using all of these separate elements may be part of the reason I enjoyed finishing off these designs so much, so further application will show whether this stands the test of time. I’m almost certain it will continue to develop.

The point is, right now, this post feels like a nice conclusion to the project. I used the digital painting techniques of the Empty Your Pockets project (something I didn’t consider adding to my work outside my own experiments before now); the photo-manipulation techniques of my study of some of the work of Bauhaus; the material research experiments from some of my preferred techniques; and the more intuitive artist research process I used, picking up visual language and shapes from the various works of Auguste Racinet almost by osmosis from reading (rather than my usual more clinical, scientific-like analysis) in harmony to create designs and visual outcomes I enjoy. These are just the first drafts really, and further refinement with repetitions of the cycle of intuition, research and execution would push them further from conventional ideas. The second in particular I think has a long way to go.

Below are some examples of photos I took of my friend and peer, Dylan, posing posing for my fashion shoot, a marvellous gentleman I’m sure you will agree, as well as an example of a texture I took, and the finished roughs.
