We did multiple tasks in Cambridge; audio recordings, data collection, still-life drawings, and photography. It was interesting to attempt to record the experience in so many different ways, however I think I would have done a much more productive and effective job of it even a little further into the course. As it is, much of my data recordings are separate from the experience of the city itself rather than representative of it and seem disjointed from each other. The memory of collecting each type and that experience are probably more inspiring than the actual collected items themselves. The most successful in my opinion are the sketches from the zoology museum which constitute draftsman practice more than an artistic impression of the place, which although not a problem, is still not as useful as a research into future ways of documenting my time in a place, rather a way to document aspects of a place based on artistically and effectively displaying the subjects anyway.

Botanical Gardens
At a later time I visited the Botanical Gardens, using the experience as inspiration primarily for my fashion work but also as material inspiration. I think I will continue to work with this research in other projects- there are many interesting design ideas in so much of the garden’s plant and animal life as well as it’s architecture. I am likely to go back and do some life-studies.
